LIHSA Voted Best of Long Island
For the second consecutive year, LIHSA has won Long Island Press "Best of Long Island" in the category of Best Arts School. In addition, Nassau BOCES won in the categories of Best Learning Center ( Barry Career and Technical Education Center) and Best Trade School (Adult Evening Program). Straight from Broadway, Sean Samuels Gives Master Class
On Monday, December 5th Dance Department alumnus, Sean Samuels conducted a morning and afernoon Master Class in commercial and audition preparation. Sean is a featured actor in Broadway's "Spiderman, Turn Off the Dark."

LIHSA Students On Fox 5 "Good Day New York"
On November 1st LIHSA students appeared live on the Fox 5's "Good Day New York " show. Students from the theatre , dance, and music departments were featured in a series of promotional numbers for the hit series "Glee". Our talented students appeared on the 7:50 time slot with a second performance later in the show.

Shirlene Blake Presents at NDEO Conference
LIHSA Dance teacher, Shirlene Blake will presented her original paper, "Same Yet Different?: Artistic Collaborations Between Diverse Populations" at the 13th annual National Dance Education Organization. This 5 day event was held in Minnesota with attendees coming from around the nation. Accompanying Ms. Blake was dance alumna, Jessica Wontropski who co-authored the paper.

LIHSA Students Perform at Annual Oyster Festival
Students from LIHSA performed at this year's Annual Oyster Festival on Sunday October 16th in Oyster Bay. The students performed a variety of Jazz, Musical Theatre, Dance and Vocal numbers. Film and Photography students were on hand to record the event. The performances scheduled for 12:00-1:00 and 4:30-5:30 on the West End Stage were a huge success drawing large crowds. Master Classes Conducted in Dance and Theatre
Students from the Dance and Theatre Departments have the opportunity to participate in a selection of Master Classes in September and October. Alumni Joseph Wamp, Katrina Moise, Albert Ruiz, and Alexis James have generously volunteered their time to conduct classes in Modern technique and Ballroom Dance technique.

LIHSA Students Recognized by the Long Island Scholar Artist Committee
Art student John McDonald from the Massapequa school district, Dance student Sarah Richman from the Rockville Centre school district, and Theatre student Tom Meglio from the Northport school district have been honored with Awards of Excellence from the Long Island Scholar-Artists Council.

LIHSA Students Steal the Show
Congratulations to LIHSA graduate Jacklyn Collins from the Locust Valley school district for garnering first place in the REACH FOR THE STARS Teen Talent Search at Eisenhower Park. Current LIHSA student, Ashley Kaufman from the Wantagh school district was selected as a finalist in the competition.

Summer Arts Academy Soars
For the past four weeks, more than 150 students from Nassau and Suffolk County school districts have enjoyed the Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts Summer Arts Academy. Studying Dance, Theater, Music, Writing, and Visual Arts, the students have attended Museums and Broadway shows, Students have had their work published in Newsday and all have enjoyed Master Classes and performances by LIHSA alumni. The final week of Summer Arts Academy culminates in department perfomances, an art exhibit, and a special performance by the newly formed Summer Arts Academy Workshop Performance Troupe.
