LIHSA Students Reach Finals in the WOR Shining Star Talent Search
Vocal major, Leandra McNair from the Westbury School District and Musical Theatre major, Eve Steuer from the Plainview School District placed in the Top 6 Finals in WOR Radio's 5th Annual Shining Star Talent Search.
LIHSA Staff Members' Production "Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative" Comes to NYC
Under the direction of LIHSA staff member, Abbe Gail Gross the musical " Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative" written by LIHSA staff member, Michael Tester will come to Off Broadway's Players Theatre, 115 Mac Dougal Street from August 6th-9th. The production will feature several LIHSA alumni. Tickets are priced at $25 and $15 available at www.theatermania.com (212) 352-3101. Student tickets are available at the door for $15 with a valid student I.D.
LIHSA Art Majors Awarded Top Scholarships
Art majors, Chelsea Mentzinger from the Oyster Bay School District and Won Cha from the Jericho School District were each awarded $5,000.00 by the Peter Terian Scholarship Student Artist committee. At a final judging showcase and awards ceremony on Wednesday evening, May 27th, Chelsea and Won were presented with their awards and certificates.
Sad News
It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that our beloved Dave Burns, former Jazz teacher, passed away on Sunday, April 5th. Dave will always be remembered with great love and respect as our "Master of Jazz". We were so fortunate to have Dave as a member of our school community for so many years and were able to honor him at our Faculty/Alumni Gala in 2003. A memorial service for Dave was conducted on Monday, April 13th from 7:00-9:00 at the Zion Cathedral Church of God and Christ at 312 Grand Avenue, Freeport, New York.

LIHSA Students Perform at don't tell mama
LIHSA presented "An Evening of Cabaret" at N.Y.C.'s world famous Cabaret Room, don't tell mama on Monday, May 11th..
This year there were two performances by students under the direction of their LIHSA Drama teacher and LIHSA musical accompanist.
